New Life and a Bright Future
A twenty-five yard Goliath rides atop a Mack MR cabover
In July of 2006, the remains of E-Z Pack were purchased from Clean Earth by E-Z Pack Holdings LLC, a subsidiary of Republic Financial Corporation. Production has since resumed at Cynthiana, Kentucky, and includes the Goliath and Apollo rear loaders and Hercules front loader. A dedicated residential front loader is also offered, featuring smaller lift cylinders for faster dump cycle times. Most recently, a new automated side loader has recently debuted. Based on the Hercules series, the new ASL shares many components with its cousin, simplifying parts stocking for larger fleets. A generous hopper of six cubic yards increases productivity, and compaction densities up to 1000 pounds per cubic yard insure maximum payloads.
Additionally, the firm has developed and patented a fuel-saving hydraulic system that compensates for fluctuating flow demands. E-Z Pack also builds their own Gladiator hydraulic pack/eject cylinders, which are available as after-market replacements for other brands of refuse packer bodies.
The company was purchased by Navistar International in 2012, which became the first major American truck manufacturer to buy a refuse body builder. Navistar was already a major provider of trucks for the refuse industry. In 2014, Navistar sold E-Z Pack to Commercial Specialty Truck Holdings LLC, and the Cynthiana factory is now also home to the Continental Mixers division.
