The VarioPress 209 (previous page) was unsuccessful, and in 1982 KUKA came with up with a completely new VarioPress model, the Type 211. The first VarioPress 211 types had the same storage body as the old 209, with the aluminium plates on the sides, while later models were made completely out of solid steel. In the next set of pictures you can see the new slide cylinder arrangement, now being mounted parallel to the slide panel:
