FL-3000 Front Loader
In September, 1983, Blackwelders announced they had acquired the rights to build the Gar Wood FL-3000 front loader from Sargent Industries. The body had not been produced in the USA since the late 1970s, when Sargent had folded the Gar Wood division and licensed their patents to various manufacturers around the world. The Blackwelders version joined other copies being built in the UK (by Scapa, and then Laird) and in Germany (by FAUN). It is interesting that the Blackwelders and Laird versions used the "Gar Wood" trade name and classic logo on their bodies, as it had wide recognition around the world.
Blackwelders also produced roll-off compactors such as the Trash Tromper series, which were sold only in a limited area of the western United States. The FL-3000 appears to have been offered nationally, but no other information on this body is currently available.
