Capital Disposal Equipment (CDE)
a.k.a. Canadian Disposal Equipment
Toronto, Ontario
Originally trading as Canadian Disposal Equipment, Toronto-based CDE was founded in 1967 by Quinto De Filippi, who designed most of their equipment. Luggers and roll-off frames were initially produced, and in 1975 the first of several variations of the Jumbo front loaders were announced. These included conventional angle-ram packers, multiple-stage packers with cross-rams and even side-wall mounted cylinders They are easily identified by their massive structures and gigantic bustle tailgates.
CDE front loaders from 1980 were listed as having a conventional, single 9-1/2" telescopic ram for the packer and 27 through 40-cubic yard capacities. Quick-Pack models in 36 and 40-cubic yard capacity were advertised by 1991, with cross-mounted, single stage cylinders (green highlights) that drive the platen (blue) during the normal packing cycle, and this entire assembly rides atop a secondary sliding floor panel (red) which is in turn driven by a multiple-stage telescopic cylinder (brown) used to eject the load.
Another CDE patent had proposed using the arrangement shown below, consisting of two pairs of single-stage cylinders connected together, with their rods extending in opposite directions. Thus, the hopper could be cleared rapidly with partial extension, and the body emptied with the full combined strokes: It is unknown if this variation was ever actually produced for sale:
CDE front loaders of this early era feature a massive body structure with a high-capacity bustle tailgate, regardless of the internal packing systems. Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI) was known to have used CDE front loaders during the 1980s in their eastern divisions.

REAR LOADERS
The CDE Super-Pack was a high-compaction, slide-sweep rear loader with all packing cylinders mounted internally. Looking like a hybrid of the Load-Master LM-400 and the Leach 2-R Packmaster, it featured massive 6" x 46" packing cylinders mounted high in the tailgate, and a roller platen riding in tracks. 6" x 16" cylinders powered the angled sweep panel. 20, 25 or 32 cubic yard sizes were offered. A lighter-duty City Pack was made in 20 cubic yard capacity, and using 5" bore packing cylinders

CDE City-Pack RL-20
A 1993 advertisement (shown below) shows the redesigned City Pack rear loader, featuring a trackless, swing-link packer mechanism similar to the E-Z Pack Goliath. Also note the appearance of a curved-shell front loader. CDE is currently product line includes front-loaders, roll-offs, luggers and stationary compactors from their factory in Etobicoke, Ontario.
