J.C. Plummer Co.
Los Angeles, California

This is the earliest documented front loader attachment which was purpose-built for refuse collection. Other types of bucket lift devices were more typically marketed as general-purpose loaders for gravel, street cleaning debris and the like. The address listed is a residential dwelling built in 1921 that still exists, which would indicate that J.C. Plummer Co. was probably a very small concern in 1948. These type of attachments blazed the trail that led to the explosion of front-loader development in southern California, and eventually the rest of the nation.
