Western Industrial Engineering Co.

From 1945: A typical general-purpose bucket loader attachment for dump trucks of the era, which was not specifically marketed as a refuse truck. It had an open front bucket which could be used as scoop. These no doubt helped inspire the purpose-built refuse loaders which proliferated in Los Angeles, leading to the birth of the front-load packer truck as built by Bowles, Western Body & Hoist Co., and many others. This is interesting mostly for the addition of a cab shield, which was attached to the dump body. which would become common for front-loading refuse packers in later years.
