Hydro E-Z Pack
Owned By Magic Valley Sanitation
Twin Falls, Idaho
Seeing a Hydro E-Pack in action on a hand-loaded route, one is reminded of how un-loved side loaders were back in the 1960s and 1970s. That is to say, most crews tended to prefer the low loading height of rear loader if given the choice. However, their simplicity of design and lower initial cost made these bodies attractive to numerous small firms and municipalities. With care, they could be maintained for a very long service life, as evidenced by this 24-yard version still in service after at least 30-40 years. The International Loadstar with stand-up drive is probably original, which makes this truck all the more special as a living classic.
