Historical Truck Museum
Sanford, Florida
Running a modern, successful national refuse hauling company has not dimmed John Jennings love of old trucks. The CEO of Waste Pro, Jennings has done what no one in the industry had ever attempted; to gather historic refuse vehicles for display in a museum dedicated solely to the waste industry. There are currently 16 vehicles on display at the facility, which is part of the company headquarters in Sanford, Florida, with more already acquired and awaiting restoration, and several on loan. If not for Jennings' vision, some extremely rare and important examples of American design would have been lost (or worse), including a Gar Wood LP-500, Gar Wood 10 00 and Heil first generation Colectomatic. Long-obsolete packer bodies, once believed to exist only in old catalogs, are being saved and displayed with honor for future generations to see.
There is simply no better organization with the resources and commitment to make this kind of museum a reality. While their technicians work to restore many de-commissioned trucks, Waste Pro is seeking restored/working trucks to fill the museum floor, and make this the greatest collection in the world. If you have a classic refuse truck for sale, or know of one, please contact the museum today and perhaps your truck will join the hall of fame. Can't bear to part with your pride & joy? Consider loaning your truck for display where I can be seen and appreciated in a proper venue, and not crowded out by legions of semis and stake bodies. The museum is also seeking display materials, memorabilia and signage to adorn the showroom.
If you think your truck would be right at home at Waste Pro, please call Scott Collier at (407) 937-2668 or E-mail Scott.
Special note for NYC, Philadelphia, Chicago and Southeast states:
John would really like to see a Roto-Pac join the collection. Contact Waste Pro if you know of one for sale.
